The complex set of abilities encompassed in information literacy cannot be learned in a vacuum but must be explored in the context of different disciplines within the curriculum. Colleges, schools, programs and the library share the responsibility for helping students develop information literacy skills. The library’s information literacy program includes a series of introductory presentations in required freshmen composition classes, integrated course-specific instruction, guides and handouts, instructional online web pages and tutorials, individual appointments, and point-of-use consultations.
