Dr. E.B. Smith, Jr., of the Youngstown College History Department, was appointed director of the U.S. Department of State’s summer seminar program and published an article in the American Historical Review on Thomas Hart Benton. Karl Dykema (English Department) was elected to chair a committee with the Modern Language Association, David P. Skeggs was selected to head the Art Department, and Lt. Col. Eugene Lash was appointed Professor of Military Science & Tactics for YoCo’s ROTC program. The Westinghouse Education Foundation established two annual $500 scholarships and President Howard Jones was named president of the Ohio College Association.
