Catherine Berg Semens, an instructor with the English and Psychology Department, was appointed Youngstown College’s
Dean of Women, replacing Eleanor B. North, who left YoCo to study abroad. Helen Johnson, a recent YoCo alumna (Class
of 1936), was named Assistant Librarian. The Science Department purchased a new electric furnace at a cost of over
$400, a chapter of Phi Theta Pi, a national business fraternity, was founded on the Youngstown College campus, and
the Board of Governors approved the establishment of a football program.
