YSU in 1924
|
| The status of the Youngstown Institute of Technology was raised when it was authorized by the State of Ohio to grant commercial (e.g., business) degrees. Roy T. Bell was elected dean of the School of Finance and Commerce. The Law School moved into the Bonnell mansion on Wick Avenue and the first degrees in science were awarded. Geneva College recognized the full value of YIT credits, as did Thiel and Hiram Colleges. Sixty students enrolled in the largest freshman class to date, and caps and gowns were worn for the first time by those taking degrees at the 1924 commencement ceremonies. |
