Preparing a Visit to the Archives
These tips can help locate particular sources available in the Archives:
To search for rare books in Special Collections, search the online MaagNet catalog and bring a printout of the catalog record of the book.
Some of the material in the archival collections and university publications have been scanned and can be found by searching in Digital.Maag. For more information, see Digital Collections.
Guides and inventories for archival collections are also available in Digital.Maag. For more information, see Collection Guides.
Send an email, via Ask An Archivist, detailing the research topic (including specific people, time periods, places/departments, type of material, etc.).
Monday – Friday, 1 – 4 pm. Other times by appointment. Call 330-941-3487, or email Ask an Archivist.
The University Archives and Special Collections is located on the 5th floor of the Maag Library. To locate the Maag Library, use the online campus map.
Because the Archives and Special Collections materials are rare and/or unique, special rules are applied:
A Researcher Registration form must be filled out before viewing the materials.
No archival or special collections materials can be removed from the Reading Room.
No food or beverages are allowed in the Reading Room.
Only digital devices, pencil and paper can be used when viewing materials. All other personal items must be stored in the lockers provided by the Archives.
Scanning and Photocopying
Scanning or photocopying of items is available. Contact the Archives staff at 330-941-3487 for details.
