Instruction Room Reservation Policy

The increasing demand for information literacy classes necessitates that all library instruction facilities be available as much as possible to provide flexibility in scheduling and accommodating classes as well as other staff needs.

Occasionally we receive requests from non-library groups to reserve either the 4th floor instruction lab or the lower level instruction lab for training or other purposes. The following policy will be followed:

  1. The instruction rooms are available for use from 8:00am until 10:00pm Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm on Friday, 9:00-5:00 on Saturday and 1:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday. See the library’s hours schedule for information about holidays, break weeks, and summer hours.
  2. If a request comes from a campus department, such as for BANNER training, is a one-time request and not an ongoing commitment, we will do our best to accommodate the request, providing it does not interfere with library instruction. (The library staff member who books the reservation is responsible for entering the information into the portal calendar AND for making arrangements for opening/closing the room.)
  3. Neither lab will be reserved on an ongoing basis, such as for a class that meets once or twice a week.
  4. Requests received from non-campus groups will be considered on an individual basis.
  5. The Turning Point "clicker" system is reserved for library instruction only and cannot be used by faculty for their own classes.
